Make your bed

Thank you for clicking this way, pastor. I'd like to offer this to you.

Despite the best efforts of our long-suffering mothers, do you know that most people don’t make their beds?

Now, you may be thinking, “With all that I am facing, I can barely get out of bed, let alone worry about making it...what’s that got to do with anything?”

Here’s why I say it.... We do not live our lives out of sight, not just because of our public vocations, but we live our lives in the real and active presence of God. He's the God who is there (as Frances Schaeffer put it). He's the God who sees (Gen 16:13). He’s with you in the dark of dawn before your feet hit the floor and when your mind and stomach churn with the anxieties of the day.

We can be CONFIDENT of his presence because he created you in his relational image and for his appointed purpose to love and be loved by him. Because he came to earth to live and die and return to our Father for the very sake of making a way to be with you forever. Because he will not relent in his mission until all the saints are gathered into his presence. Because his most oft-repeated promise is, "I am with you".

Pastor he is there. And so...as an intentional, faithful, worshipful act of the day, make your bed. As a humble receiving of the grace that God has given you for this particular day, make your bed. As a faithful stewarding of what God has given you (bed, home, strength, health, work, family, etc), make your bed.

And have a good cup of coffee for pete’s sake. Life’s too short for bad coffee. :)

God bless you, pastor. Please reach out to me for prayer, support, with a question, or if there’s anything else I can do for your and your people. Please feel free to share this as you feel it could be helpful.
